Catalogue · Marble
Marble is livelier and softer than granite: veins sweep across the slab like brushstrokes, and over the years the surface gathers a patina that many people love it for. The Stoneks catalogue has 20 marbles, from white Bianco Carrara to black, white-veined Nero Marquina, priced from 221 €/m². Before anything is cut, we plan with you where the veins will fall on your worktop, based on the actual slab.
Who it suits
Does marble suit the way you live?
Marble lives and ages with your kitchen, and it isn’t for everyone. Here is an honest account of when this stone delights and when it is more likely to frustrate.
Choose marble if
- you want genuine natural veining that no printed pattern truly matches
- the surface is going into a bathroom, around a fireplace, onto a windowsill or an island, where there is less acid and heat
- you bake and roll out pastry — a cool marble surface is the classic base for it
- you like a surface that wears its years, like an old bakery table

The marbles that define the material
Each name sums up the stone’s character, but every slab has veining of its own. That’s why we recommend choosing marble from a full-size photo or slab rather than a small sample.
Bianco Carrara
A white to pale grey base with soft grey veins: the best-known marble of all, at home in both Nordic and classic kitchens. Listed in the catalogue as Bianco Carrara C.
Nero Marquina
A deep black base with contrasting white veins. A strong choice for a bathroom vanity top, a fireplace or a kitchen island where the stone is the centrepiece of the room.
Emperador Dark
A dark brown stone with a web of lighter veins that pairs well with walnut and oak, brass and warm lighting.
Botticino
Creamy beige and understated: fine veins and a calm surface that warm up a room without drawing attention to themselves.
Verde Guatemala
Deep green with white veins. A bold, memorable choice for a fireplace, a bathroom or a bar top.
Polished or matt?
A polished finish brings out the depth of the veining; a matt finish hides etching and signs of use better. Ask in your quote request which finishes your chosen marble comes in.
In practice
Living with marble: what to expect
Sealing and cleaning
Marble absorbs liquids more readily than granite, so it needs regular sealing. Clean it with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; general-purpose cleaners, vinegar and abrasives damage both the sealer and the shine.
Lemon, hot pans and knives
Acid etches the surface matt, so wipe it up at once. A hot pan can leave a mark and damage the sealer, so keep trivets to hand. Being softer than granite, marble picks up scratches from knives and the bases of ceramic dishes over time — a chopping board and felt pads help.
Thickness, edges and veining
The most common thickness for marble is also 20 mm. On the drawings we agree the edge profile and the layout of the veining: where the finest part of the slab goes and how the pattern continues across a joint.
Around the sink
Water, soap and cleaning products gather around the sink, so that is where marble needs the most attention. With an undermount sink the edge of the cut-out stays visible and needs sealing just as carefully as the surface. The sink cut-out is milled on a CNC machine, so its edge comes out smooth and precise.

Frequently asked questions
What determines the price of a marble worktop?
In the Stoneks catalogue marble starts at 221 €/m² including VAT, and every stone’s price is on its product card. The final cost of the worktop also depends on the number of slabs, the edges, cut-outs, measuring, transport and installation. If you want the veins matched across a joint, it can take more slab — the quote will show it.
How do I care for a marble worktop day to day?
Wipe it with a damp cloth and a pH-neutral stone cleaner, and dry up spills straight away. Seal marble regularly: sealing protects against stains, but it won’t stop acids from etching. A chopping board, trivets and coasters are everyday companions in a marble kitchen.
What happens if lemon juice or wine gets on marble?
Marble is mostly calcite, which acids attack: lemon juice, vinegar, wine or tomato sauce left on the surface leaves a dull, etched patch. It shows more on a polished surface than on a matt one. Light etching can be repaired by honing, but it’s far easier to wipe acidic spills up at once.
Can I get the marble look from a lower-maintenance material?
You can: marble-look quartz needs no sealing and isn’t bothered by lemon, so it suits a kitchen where people cook and bake every day. Quartz can’t match the depth of real marble or the uniqueness of each slab, though, so it’s worth seeing both side by side at the showroom.
Can I see and choose where the veins go before cutting?
Yes, both. At our showroom at Vesilennuki 20 in Noblessner you can follow the veining on a full-size photo; the most popular marbles are on display as full slabs. On the drawings we then agree which part of the slab goes on the island and which behind the hob, so the finest vein doesn’t end up in the sink cut-out by accident. Book a time and let us know which marbles you’re interested in.
