Catalogue · Limestone
Limestone is a quiet natural stone: a mostly matt surface, soft greys and bluish tones, and fine veins that tell the story of how the stone was formed. The Stoneks catalogue has 2 limestones priced from 310 €/m², among them blue-grey Azul Valverde and grey Jura Grey. It is best suited to bathrooms, windowsills and kitchen surfaces that see gentler use.
Who it suits
Who limestone is for
Limestone has a narrower range of uses than granite or quartz. Where it suits the room, it gives the surface a quiet, velvety look that is hard to achieve with any other stone.
Choose limestone if
- you want a matt surface that doesn’t reflect or sparkle but feels calm and soft
- the surface is going into a bathroom, onto a windowsill or into a part of the kitchen where nobody chops or squeezes lemons every day
- you like being able to see the stone’s history in it — fine veins and fossils
In practice
Limestone in everyday life
Sealing comes first
Limestone is more porous than granite and absorbs water, oil and coloured liquids faster. Seal the surface and renew the sealer from time to time: when a drop of water leaves a dark patch in the stone, it’s time.
Acids and cleaning
Like marble, limestone is made mostly of calcite, so lemon, vinegar and wine can etch the surface. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner and wipe up acidic spills at once.
Heat and wear
As a softer stone, limestone picks up marks from dishes and knives more easily than granite, so a chopping board is a must. Always put a trivet under a hot pan.
Thickness, edge and sink
The most common thickness for limestone is 20 mm. The edge of a soft stone copes better with knocks when chamfered or rounded; the sink and tap cut-outs are made by the CNC machine at our factory.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a limestone worktop cost?
Limestone worktops start at 310 €/m² (VAT included); you’ll find the exact price on each stone’s card below. The final price also covers measuring, edge and cut-out work, transport and installation, each on a separate line of the quote. On working days the quote reaches you within 24 hours.
How do I look after limestone?
For everyday cleaning, use a soft cloth and a pH-neutral stone cleaner, and wipe up spills as soon as they happen. Because the stone is porous, limestone must be sealed and the sealer renewed from time to time. Leave abrasive and acidic cleaners in the cupboard.
Will limestone stain or scratch?
Unsealed, it readily soaks up oil, wine and coffee, because limestone is more porous than granite. The softer stone also scratches more easily, and acids such as lemon juice and vinegar etch it just as they do marble. Good sealing slows absorption, so you have time to wipe spills away. On a matt surface, small signs of use are less noticeable too.
What is the difference between limestone and marble?
Both are calcite-based natural stones and both are sensitive to acids. Marble is limestone transformed by heat and pressure: denser, more dramatically veined and usually glossier, whereas limestone is softer, more porous and calmer in pattern. If you want shine and contrasting veins, look at our marbles; if you want a quiet matt surface, stay with limestone.
Can I touch limestone before I decide?
Absolutely — limestone’s matt surface and soft tone look different in daylight than on a screen. Book a time at our Noblessner showroom at Vesilennuki 20 and mention that you’d like to see the limestones. Once the tone and surface are settled, we measure within a week.
