Polished or matt is a bigger choice with marble than with any other stone. Emperador Dark, a marble from Italy, is listed in both finishes, and the difference shows over time: lemon, vinegar and other acids leave dull spots that stand out on a polish but blend into a matt surface.
For a kitchen worktop, matt is the more forgiving option; for a bathroom vanity, wall or indoor window sill, a polish keeps its look longer because acids are rarer there. Either way, seal the stone regularly. Thickness options are 20 and 30 mm.
