Quartz

Catalogue · Engineered quartz

Quartz is the worktop for people who want the look of stone without the upkeep of stone: the non-porous surface needs no sealing, spills don’t soak in, and the colours run from clean white to marble-style veining. The Stoneks catalogue has 209 quartz stones from the Technistone, Caesarstone and Silestone collections, priced from 167 €/m². At the showroom you’ll find samples and full-size photos, with the most popular stones on display as full slabs.

Who it suits

Is quartz the right material for your kitchen?

An honest look at when quartz is the best choice and when it isn’t. Not sure? Visit the showroom and we’ll put the options side by side.

Choose quartz if

  • you want a worktop that never needs sealing and asks for nothing more than a wipe with a cloth
  • there are kids in the kitchen, and coffee, wine or turmeric need to stay on the surface, not in it
  • you want an even pattern and an exact colour that doesn’t change from slab to slab
  • you’re after the look of marble without marble’s sensitivity to acids and stains

Choose something else if

  • you put hot pans straight onto the surface — then look at Dekton
  • the worktop is going outdoors or into strong sun: the resin in quartz can change colour under UV, ceramics don’t
  • you want every slab to be naturally different — that is the nature of granite and marble

Brands

Three quartz brands we install every day

All three are non-porous engineered quartz. The differences lie in pattern, colour palette and price bracket — not in durability.

Technistone

48 stones · Czech engineered quartz and the brand Stoneks installs most often: the Noble, Crystal and Taurus series, from marble looks to terrazzo.

Caesarstone

20 stones · concrete and stone looks (Moorland Fog, London Grey, Turbine Grey) that suit a modern or industrial kitchen.

Silestone

24 stones · quartz by Cosentino, including the marble-look Eternal series; made by the same company as Dekton.

In practice

How quartz really behaves in a kitchen

Real-life care

A damp cloth and a mild washing-up liquid. No sealing needed. Steer clear of abrasives, strong alkalis and solvents, which take the shine off.

Heat and scratches

Quartz is hard and resists scratches in everyday use, but a chopping board is still sensible. Use a trivet for hot pans: the resin binder can discolour under direct heat.

Thickness and edges

The most common thickness is 20 mm. The edge can be ground straight, chamfered or rounded; we keep joints as discreet as possible and position the slab to follow its pattern.

Sink and hob

The cut-outs are made on the CNC machine at our factory, following drawings you approve. Undermount sinks, top-mounted sinks and induction hobs all work.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a quartz worktop cost?

In the Stoneks catalogue engineered quartz starts at 167 €/m² including VAT; branded collections and special finishes cost more. The final price is made up of the material per square metre, edge finishing, cut-outs (sink, hob, sockets), transport and installation. Each of these is a separate line in the quote, so you know the total before the stone is cut. You will have the quote within 24 hours on working days.

How do I look after quartz?

Day to day, a damp cloth and a mild washing-up liquid are all it needs. There is nothing to seal, because the surface is non-porous. Avoid strongly alkaline or abrasive cleaners and solvents, as they can dull the surface.

Can I put a hot pan straight on quartz?

We would not. Engineered quartz is held together by resin, which can discolour under a very hot pan, so use a trivet. If you want a surface that takes a hot pan directly, look at ceramics such as Dekton.

Quartz or Dekton — which should I choose?

Quartz is easier to live with and costs less; Dekton stands up to heat, scratches and UV and even works in an outdoor kitchen. If you cook a lot and hot pans regularly land straight on the worktop, consider Dekton; if price, a broad colour range and easy care matter more, go for quartz. At the showroom you can touch both side by side.

Can I see the stone in person before I order?

Yes. At our showroom at Vesilennuki 20 in Tallinn the most popular quartz stones are on display as full slabs and the rest as samples and full-size photos, so you can judge the pattern and shade before you decide. Come by appointment, so we can make sure the right stone is there. We measure within a week and install 10 working days from drawing approval.
