Where a kitchen opens onto the living room, a black polished island behaves more like furniture than fittings. Laminam Diamond Calacatta Black gives it that presence, reflecting the room in its gloss while staying practical underneath.
The Italian ceramic is non-absorbent, takes hot dishes and never needs sealing. Water spots show more on dark gloss, so a dry cloth after wiping keeps it clean-looking. The 20 mm slab suits the island top; with 12 mm you can clad a wall or the island sides to match.
