An old trick still works: run the worktop stone up the wall behind the hob. With Cosmic Gold, a polished granite from Argentina, the splashback and counter then read as one surface, and the wall gets a finish that wipes clean after frying.
Granite tolerates heat well, which is exactly what the wall behind a hob needs. Occasional sealing keeps grease from penetrating. Every slab is individual, so we suggest choosing with the sample and a full-size photo in front of you. Worktops come in 20 or 30 mm.
