Black granite over a pale oak floor reads as a confident full stop. Black Forest, quarried in Brazil and polished, comes as a 30 mm slab and gives a light Nordic kitchen that contrast without heaviness, provided walls and doors stay pale.
Hard and heat-tolerant, it takes daily cooking in its stride; seal it now and again and use a pH-neutral cleaner for routine wiping. Dried droplets show on dark polish, so a final pass with a dry cloth helps. Bathroom vanities, walls and indoor window sills can use the same stone.
